For infants, Baptism at St. Dominic is ordinarily celebrated on Sundays. First-time expectant parents are required to attend a pre-baptismal preparation program to update their knowledge of this life-giving sacrament and examine their own faith in light of sharing this faith with a newborn. The program emphasizes that Baptism unites us with Christ and welcomes new Christians into the community. The pre-baptism classes are scheduled throughout the year, please call the parish office to register for an upcoming class.
For adults, the Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated at Easter Vigil as part of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). This faith formation process begins in the fall and continues until Easter with weekly meetings.

The Eucharist is the center of the life of our parish community. The Sunday Eucharistic celebration brings our community together to celebrate our shared faith and worship our loving God. In coming together as a community, Christ powerfully becomes present in our midst. Click for the St. Dominic Mass schedule.
Our parish children celebrate the Sacrament of First Eucharist in the spring of their second grade year in the elementary school and PSR programs. The First Eucharist program is centered in the family and prepares children for this sacred meal of our faith. Through parent and child meetings, the family is offered support and education in preparation for the Sacrament. Volunteers, especially those who don’t have children in preparation for the Sacrament, are needed to help with Jesus Day, First Eucharist Mass practice and the dinner offered for the children and their parents. See Parish School of Religion (PSR) page for current information on First Eucharist 2013.
If you have a family member or friend who would appreciate having communion brought to their house or to them in an area nursing home please, contact Bonnie Stein: 216-991-1444 or bonniestein1@yahoo.com. She will try to set up a time with you for someone to visit your loved one and bring the Eucharist to them.

The RCIA process prepares interested adult parishioners for full communion with the church, therefore the sacrament is celebrated for the first time at Easter Vigil.

Confirmation is one of three sacraments of initiation in the Catholic Church. St. Dominic celebrates the Sacrament of Confirmation with parishioners from high school age to adult each Spring. In preparation for this sacrament, Fr. Tom and Pastoral Associate Russ Petrus will lead a formation program which will explore the meaning of the sacrament and its grace for the Christian life.
There are many reasons why some adult Catholics have never been confirmed. We work with adults who have been baptized Catholic, but never confirmed, on an individual basis. We will meet with you individually and then you will be confirmed at the Confirmation Mass in the Spring. For adults who have been baptized in another Christian tradition, preparation for the Sacrament takes place as part of the RCIA.
For more information contact Pastoral Associate, Russ Petrus, 216.991.1444 or russpetrus@gmail.com.
Every Saturday from 4 – 4:30 p.m., a priest is available in the rooms at the back of church for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If this time is not convenient, this Sacrament can be celebrated at anytime by calling the rectory for a personal appointment.
For our parish children, the celebration of First Reconciliation is celebrated in conjunction with our First Eucharist program. The program introduces children to the reconciling process between themselves, God and others.
For adults, First Reconciliation is celebrated as part of the RCIA Process.

The preparation for this Sacrament must be initiated by the interested parishioners contacting the pastor at least six months prior to the intended date. This time allows the couple to participate in pre-marriage preparation programs and counseling. Parishioners who are interested in being married at St. Dominic should call the parish office early in their preparation for marriage.
This pre-marriage preparation, called Pre-Cana, is a series of meetings with the pastor and a special one-day class with fellow engaged couples. This process provides a beautiful time of reflection and communication for the couple.

There is nothing more healing than prayer, and this Sacrament helps to strengthen both the body and spirit of those who are suffering.
We would appreciate being informed about the sick or aged who are unable to come to church or who are hospitalized so that we can share this beautiful Sacrament.
When one is seriously ill, please request the Sacrament of Anointing by calling the parish office.
